Senior Character Modeler (3D)

We are a San Francisco-based mobile entertainment company that is continuously breaking new ground on smartphones and tablets by building graphically rich games, developing fun new genres of entertainment and creating innovative technologies. We launched in 2009 and have grown to over 200 employees. Our games have been downloaded over 200 million times globally! We are looking for someone to join our fantasy or sci-fi genre. We are looking for people excited to bring AAA quality work to mobile and establish us as a leader in 3D art for mobile. We are excited to be shaping and defining games as we know it on mobile.

What you will be doing.

  • We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Senior Character Modeler to help lead character production, art pipeline/technology on a completely new high-quality, core title. Candidate should have extensive working experience working with modeling/sculpting tools to achieve unique and stylized characters. The candidate must be a team player, organized and creative.
  • While working with our Art Directors and our Concept Artists you will help devise the game’s visual style and direction after concept. Senior Character Modelers will be a pillar of the team and will define and contribute significantly to the culture of the character modeling team.

What you need to work here.

  • A competitive candidate will:
  • Have 5+ years working in gaming as a Character Modeler with credit on at least one shipped title
  • Have a BFA, MFA, art degree, or equivalent experience as a 3D Artist
  • Have an avid and passionate gamer across multiple platforms
  • Have an excellent work ethic, self-motivation, and is able to easily take constructive feedback
  • Have solid knowledge of current and emerging character and rigging pipelines
  • Focus on creating both hard surfaced/organic characters or creatures
  • Expert level knowledge of 3D Studio Max and Maya or equivalent, Zbrush, Mudbox and Photoshop
  • Able to troubleshoot and smartly correct other artists’ scenes, rigs, props, etc and provide meaningful feedback when needed
  • Able to follow and adapt to stylistic guidelines set by the Lead/Art Director
  • Strong organizational and file management skills desired
  • Knowledgeable in other 3D programs such as Zbrush, Mudbox, Photoshop, Modo,
  • Able to create new and efficient strategies for asset completion
  • Able to lead and mentor others
  • Pluses:
  • Character/prop asset creation is a plus
  • Able to concept ideas before beginning the asset creation process
  • Is able to animate or show prior skills of animation work
  • Able to generate models from some to little concept art
  • This is a full time role that would require you to be on site in our downtown San Francisco studio.
